Teeth
May 27th, 2008
Do you know the “vagina dentata”? It is a myth evoking an aboriginal woman to the sexual organ unusual because it is equipped with teeth. Woe to the ill-intentioned male who would dare venture into a more qu’amicale without the consent of the girl. Here is the idea of Teeth.
Dawn is a young American girl actively engaged in an association advocating the virtues of abstinence. During one of these meetings, she made the acquaintance of the charming Tobey: love at first sight is instantaneous. Only small problem: they both made the vow not only afford the one they épouseront. The fight between their first and their moral émois looks harsh. The first part is cleverly done and we follow with a touch of humor and shift these young tourtereaux, wondering which of the two will be the first to crack.
The result is less encouraging: from the moment Dawn made the discovery of his anatomical feature strange to say the least, the film loses much of its interest. Hésitant between horror film (that is missed, scenes gores are frankly laughable) and drama Teeth does not really balance the two. It fails to really focus on any of the characters and some scenes peripheral to the main story are bâclées.
In addition, the final speech given by the film is quite elementary: The guys are all bastards (there is not one to make up the other) who think only one thing. The idea that finally a woman come all you save (and how!), You’ll probably adore it, girls. It’s still a little too caricatural. That said, lovers of Series B appreciate.
